The Design Process- How do we solve problems?

I had so much fun with you all on Thursday! Thank you for coming to Cloverbuddies.

Did you enjoy learning about the design process that scientist use to solve problems? Do you remember what we call a scientist who makes things?

We call them an ENGINEER!

Can you find MAN MADE and NATURAL things in your house? I can! In our house we have:

-Plants
-Water in our sink
- a Guinea Pig!

All of those are NATURAL, meaning they come from nature. We sure have a lot of man made stuff too. Things like

-Clothing
-Furniture
- Cars

They might have things that come from nature in them (like cotton in our clothing) but they were put together by people, so they are MAN MADE.

What is a scientist?

Hi Clover Buddie friends!

I had so much fun getting to know at our first meeting! I loved making discoveries and learning about science with you! Do you remember what we learned?

We learned that scientists ask questions, and that the fancy word for that is "inquiry"

We learned that a scientist observes using their five senses and predicts what might happen.

We learned that a scientists uses tools to help there five senses gather information.

We learned that a scientist compares and classifies, which is a fancy way of saying that scientist sort.

We made books that talked about our 5 senses. We compared and classified a delicious snack. We used tools to better understand things we were discovering. We tried to predict what was in a box using only our sense of touch. I am so glad you came to learn!

If you are interested, check out this Barney video all about our 5 senses. See you all soon!

Welcome to Clover Buddies 2014-2015

Hi, I am so glad you found us! Welcome to the Jefferson County Clover Buddies blog. This is where you will find everything you need to know about our group.

First, what in the world is a Clover Buddie? I am so glad you asked!

"The 4-H Cloverbud project is designed specifically for children 5-year old/Kindergarten through 2nd grade. 4-H Cloverbud programs are developmentally appropriate, activity-focused and built on cooperative learning. The primary difference between a 4-H Cloverbud activity and a 4-H Project area is that the member engages in varied activities with focus on developing a specific skill or concept utilized in completing the activity, rather than focusing on a long-term planned course of study in a specific subject area.
Participation, safety, personal development, learning and fun are the highest priorities for the Cloverbud project."
If this sounds like a good fit, we would love to have you come learn with us!
Check us out on our first meeting.
